How to hide seen status from Viber messages on Android and iOS

Whenever you open a Viber chat message, the sender will know that youve viewed the message because right below the Viber message, it will show "seen" status. There may be times where you are busy and have read the message but cant reply immediately but because it will show up as seen the sender may assume you are ignoring his/her message. So to save this unnecessary tension, you can disable or hide seen status from messages so that the sender wont know youve read the messages. Follow these short steps:

How to disable message seen feature on Viber messenger

  • Open Viber >> O pen Menu (tap on the top left icon or swipe from left edge of the screen to the right)
  • Scroll down and select "Settings" >> Privacy
  • Tap on Send Seen Status to remove the check mark. (Turning this setting off will hide others Seen status from you)

Now whenever you receive a Viber message, you can open it and others will not know that youve seen the message. From the same settings you can also turn off your "online" status so that you can appear offline to others.

First Impressions PhoneJoy

With our review of the PhoneJoy planned for early next week we thought wed write about out early impressions of the device which are mixed so far. Whilst we have had some difficulty connecting the device at times (we cant put our finger on why it can sometimes connect first time and yet at other times take 3 or 4 tries) and weve not really viewed it as being incredibly portable weve also really found that it is very easy to use, feels solid and sits in the hands well.

Also weve found (rather surprisingly) that the little stand that came with the device is nothing short of brilliant, its not only made the PhoneJoy more usable but its actually improved the phones ability to do things like watching movies or live sport on the phone as it holds the phone incredibly well.

Perhaps most amazingly is just how easy its been to map the buttons to the keys on the applications weve been using. For example using the right analogue stick as the "C buttons" on N64oid. Whilst t hey keys arent necessarily "perfect" for us to map to certain consoles thats not stopping us from finding good layouts when we need them due to the huge versatility of the control.

Our next mention of the PhoneJoy will be a review which will be followed with a number of useful guides for people that have decided to be buy one.

M8 Frozen
ProblemHello, i am a current owner of the HTC One M8, and its been working perfectly, except for today, when i was texting a friend, my phone just froze. when it froze, I pressed the power button, which made the screen dark. Thinking that my phone was now unfrozen, i pressed the button again, waiting for it to turn on. It didn’t:(. I don’t know what to do, its been like this for 45 minutes. Please help me.
Solution: There are instances when this phone freezes and dose not seem to respond to anything. If this happens all you need to do is to press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Up button for at least 10 seconds. Release th buttons after 10 seconds then allow several seconds for your phone to reboot.
M8 No Option To Set APN
ProblemHello, I’m hoping you can assist me with this problem. I have searched everywhere and can’t Fine a solution. I have a HTC one m8 6526lvw. It is unlocked and works on gsm or cdma networks. I hav e been using it on h2o. However I have encountered a problem. While attempting to adjust the apn settings I noticed I do not have the option of creating new apn. I’ve followed all the guides down to the letter but my phone will not give me the option to add new apn. I have set my apn settings on every android I’ve ever used. However I can’t figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks
Solution: It appears that a recent software update to the phone automatically gets the APN settings from the SIM card. This makes it easier for ow ners of the device to setup the MMS and Internet settings however the drawback is that it now requires a lengthy process to set it up manually.
One solution to this is to go to the Network Preferences section and add the network that your SIM card is registered to. After selecting the network you will then have to select the network type (GSM,UMTS,LTE, etc.). You will then get the APN settings for the network which you can then edit.
M8 Call Issues
ProblemI have bought my phone 6 months back. Last one month I am experiencing problem in making and receiving calls. I have crosschecked with the ser vice providers and they have found nothing from their side. Once I dial a number there will be a delay in getting the ring tone. certain time it gets cut. Similarly people from the other end also experience the same issue in getting connected my number. Please give a solution at the earliest as I am missing lot of important calls that I suppose to receive.
  • Details of my phone
  • model number: HTC One M8
  • HTC Sense Version: 6.0
  • Software Number: 3.28.401.9
  • Kernel Vesion
  • 3.4.0-g222defb and@ABM101 #1 SMP PREEMPT
  • BASE BRAND VERSION
  • 1.22.21331147A1.29G_20.67.4196.01_F
Solution: You should first try using another SIM in your phone to check if this is a SIM card issue. If the issue still persists then do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your data first. Also make sure that the Fast boot option in Settings > Power must not be selected.
  • Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
  • Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
  • Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
If the issue persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest bringing your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
M8 Water Damaged
Problem: Hi, a little bit of water got into my HTC one m8 but not a lot, ever since that happened, my phone has been acting up, rotates when the auto rotate is off and even the home screen rotates, the screen keeps turning on by itself, and the car app keeps opening by itself, note that the phone works perfectly fine except for the problems I stated above, please help me and tell me what should I do????
Solution: The thing about mobile gadgets getting wet is that it’s difficult to determine which component gets affected without really opening the device and checking it internally. A water damaged device will oftentimes not show its issues a day, week, or even months after the incident.
In your case the issue of the phone is that it rotates on its own and the car apps open on its own. What I suggest is for you to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your data first and turn off the fast boot option of your phone.
Is the issue persists even after the factory reset then you shuold bring your phone to an authorized service center fro checking.
M8 Won’t Update To KitKat 4.4.4
ProblemHi droidguy, I’m facing an issue when trying to update to kitkat 4.4.4. it’s stuck at red triangle with ! screen. had try wipe cache partition as per advise by htc team but still unsuccessful. do you have any other way? thanks in advace.
Solution: If wiping the cache partition failed to resolve the issue then you should perform a factory reset. Take note that this will bring your phone back to its original settings and delete its data.
  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.
  • M8 UFocus Not Working
    ProblemSo I’ve had my HTC
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.
M8 UFocus Not Working
ProblemSo I’ve had my HTC One M8 for about 3-4 months now, and i just realized that I’m not able to use the UFocus feature on it. I’ve checked and made sure that I’m using Camera Mode, the scene is on Auto, i have good lighting, etc. But it just wont work! I’ve even restored it, but the problem keeps coming back!
Solution: UFocus allows you to change the focus in the picture that you took. You will be able to use this feature by opening a photo that you took in your gallery. When viewing the photo tap Edit and Effects, tap UFocus. The device will prompt you to tap anywhere within the shot to refocus.
M8 Call Answer/End Button Missing
ProblemHi, I’m hoping you can help me with an issue I’m having with my HTC One M8. I must have hit a wrong button today because every time I try to make a call or recieve a call, I no longer see the green “answer” or the red “end” button that I used to and when I try to dial or receive a call from someone in my “contacts” the screen is really big, if that makes any sense, and again, there is no green “answer” or the red “end” button. I get a call and what I would normally press to answer isn’t there anymore. Can you help me with this? I would be forever grateful!!
Solution: Try checking if the magnification feature of your phone is turned on and if so turn it off.
  • Go to Settings, and then tap Accessibility.
  • Tap Magnification gestures, and then tap the On/Off switch to turn it on or off.
M8 Randomly Vibrates
ProblemHi, I have had a problem recently with the vibration for notifications. I’ve had this phone for only a month. I have turned off vibrate for every app that sends me notifications. But it will still vibrate. For example, I wil l receive a text message and at first it is fine, just a sound notification like its supposed to , but then around thirty seconds later it will vibrate. I’m only getting one text but I will get a vibration notification repeatedly every 20 â€" 30 seconds. So to wrap it all up, my phone is vibrating for notifications when not supposed to, and it is giving me repeated notifications. If you could reply and help I’d be really grateful. Thank you!
Solution: Try to disable the vibrate feature of the phone first and check if you r phone still vibrates when you get notifications.
  • From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  • Scroll to and tap Settings.
  • Scroll to and tap Sound.
  • Ensure the Sound profile is set to Normal.
  • Tap Vibrate to enable or disable the feature for calls and notifications.
If your phone does not vibrate anymore then the issue might be caused by an app you installed. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.
If your phone still vibrates even if the vibrate feature is turned off then the issue may be with the phone software or the hardware itself. You will have to backup your phone data then perform a master reset.
If the issue still persists after the master reset then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center as this may a lready be a hardware related problem.
M8 WeChat Not Working
Problem: I am a heavy user of WeChat which worked great on my original HTC One. I was experiencing another connectivity issue via T-Mobile and upgraded the HTC One M8. WeChat worked great, then Google did their 4.4.4 update. From then on WeChat wouldn’t work on the data network, only on wi-fi. T-Mobile thought it might be the phone so they replaced it and lo and behold, WeChat still will not connect through the T-Mobile network. I get an message saying error, “Server Access Failure (1,-10087)” when trying to use WeChat. I uninstalled, cleared the cache, and reinstalled the most current app from Google Play Store 4 times, but still have the problem. HTC doesn’t seem to have an answer, T-Mobile thinks it is the WeChat app’s issue. WeChat doesn’t answer support emails. Any thoughts? This is driving me crazy.
Solution: Try checking the app first if the issue occurs in 3G mode or in 4G mode.
  • Slide two fingers dow n the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
  • Press SETTINGS.
  • Press Mobile data.
  • Press Network mode.
Verify if the issue occurs when you choose 3G only, 2G only, 2G/3G auto or 2G/3G/4G auto.
If the app can connect in any of the network modes then the issue might be related to your mobile network settings. You should check your APN settings if they are the right ones used by your network.
  • From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the Connections tab.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names.
  • If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN
Verify if your phone has these settings and edit accordingly any differences.

What the heck is the difference between Samsung Pay and Android Pay

If you own a newer model Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you might see that Android Pay and Samsung Pay are both available to you and seem to serve the same purpose, so what gives?
Android Pay and Samsung Pay are quite similar in that they both handle mobile payments.  The user simply opens the payment application, takes a picture of a credit card to store its details, and uses the smartphone to pay for the transaction. However, the underlying technological differences between the two wireless mobile payment platforms cou ld help one of them claim the leading position and make the other fall into obscurity.

SOME BACKGROUND ON MOBILE PAYMENTS

android pay
The recent boom in mobile payment options means that we could very soon leave our wallets at home and pay for everything with our smartphones. Gartner, an American research and advisory firm providing information technology-related insight, p redicts that the global market for mobile payments will grow from about $235 billion in 2014 to $720 billion in transactions by 2017.
On Android, this amazing growth is entirely driven by two mobile payment options: Android Pay and Samsung Pay. Both arrived in September 2015 and have since established their firm place on the market with partnerships with countless financial institutions and retailers.

ANDROID PAY

android pay
Right from the start, Google’s own mobile payment option, Android Pay, has one very important trick up its sleeve: It works on all smartphones with NFC and HCE (Host Card Emulation) support that are running Android 4.4 KitKat and later. Chances are that if you’ve recently bought an Android device from a leading smartphone manufacturer, you won’t have any problems getting Android Pay to work.
The number of supported devices will only grow in the future, as Google makes the requirements for Android Pay the new stan dard for all devices.
The biggest downside is it currently doesn’t support too many banks. You can find the official list of supported cards and banks onAndroid’s official website. At the time of writing this article, Android Pay should work with almost 700,000 store locations and 1,000 Android apps.

SAMSUNG PAY

samsung pay
Samsung’s mobile payment platform is built upon a technology from a company called LoopPay, which was acquired by Samsung in 2015. According to their website, “LoopPay was born with the invention of Magnetic Secure Tra nsmission (MST). This patented technology, along with the LoopPay app, became the most accepted mobile payment solution worldwide.”
MST emits a magnetic signal that mimics the magnetic strip on a traditional payment card, thus allowing for mobile payments at almost any point-of-sale system. Samsung claims that the technology is more secure than using a traditional payment card and is as secure as paying with Near Field Communication (NFC), which is what Google uses for their Android Pay system. Paying with MST through Samsung Pay is simple and intuitive: all users have to do is place their smartphone close to the terminal and wait for the system to confirm the payment.
Because magnetic card terminals are much more widespread than those that accept NFC payments, it’s possible to use Samsung Pay in more than 90% of the stores in the United States and more than 30 million retail locations worldwide. Furthermore, with partnerships with over 100 financial institutions, you have much better chance of getting your card to work with the system than you do with Android Pay.
The MST technology was put to work in this recent Samsung Pay commercial:
All of this would perhaps make Samsung Pay the mobile payment system of choice for most customers, if it wasn’t for the limited device support. Currently, you can use Samsung Pay only with the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, and Galaxy Note 5 â€" costly devices that completely leave out the mid- and low-end market.

CONCLUSION

The Samsung’s mobile payment system is heavily dependent on the quality and popularity of their smartphones. While they have a huge advantage today with the support for MST, this technology is likely to lose its relevance in the future, as NFC becomes the new norm. Android Pay relies on its army of third-party smartphone manufacturers to push the technology forward and bring it to customers across the world. Still, Google needs to ensure that the system will work flawlessly on all devices, otherwise it could gain a bad reputation.

Fix VLC player closes automatically after video ends

Few months back I had set my VLC Player to automatically close after video playback is completed or after a movie or music video ends. You may not want VLC player to exit automatically if you want to replay all the videos on your playlist. If youve set this feature on long time ago, you may not know how to turn off this "quit at the end of the video" settings on VLC Player for Windows. VLC has made it very easy to toggle it on or off and you can do it in a single step. Most users will probably probably figure out how to this by themselves but those who have gone to Google fore help, will hopefully save time by reading this post.

  • Open VLC Player on yo ur PC
  • Just click on "Media"on the tool bar at the top of VLC media player.
  • Now simply click on "Quit at the end of playlist" to disable automatic shutdown of VLC player after video ending".

Samsung galaxy S4 Freeze On Boot Logo

Samsung galaxy S4 Freeze On Boot Logo.

Problem: My phone freezes on the Samsung display after power on. I have removed the battery and replaced it and it still freezes. What can I do to start the phone normally and retrieve my contacts and photos?
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? Try removing it as this may be causing the problem especially if this card is corrupt. Check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem still occurs then start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. If you are unable to access the recovery mode then connect your phone to its wall charger then attempt to access the recovery mode again and wipe the cache partition of your phone.
If your phone still gets stuck in the Samsung logo then connect your device using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running. Using this software you may be able to retrieve your photos and contacts.

Apple iPhone 6s Plus Network And SIM

Network :
2G, first introduced in 1992, is the second-generation of cellular telephone technology and the first to use digital encryption of conversations. 2G networks were the first to offer data services and SMS text messaging, but their data transfer rates are lower than those of their successors.
3G networks succeed 2G ones, offering faster data transfer rates and are the first to enable video calls. This makes them especially suitable for use in modern smartphones, which require constant high-speed internet connection for many of their applications.
4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone communications standards. It is a successor of the 3G and provides ultra-broadband internet access for mobile devices. The high data transfer rates make 4G networks suitable for use in USB wireless modems for laptops and even home internet access.
SIM
A subscriber identity module is a removable smart card for mobile phones. SIM cards store the required information to identify the mobile device. It also contains data required for voice encryption to make listening in on calls almost impossible (except when the wireless carrier itself is doing the eavesdropping).
In this way the customer ID (and personal number) is tie d to the SIM card and not to a certain mobile phone. This allows for a seamless interchange of the same SIM card between different GSM mobile phones.
SIM cards also serve as storage for SMS messages and the users contacts. Current SIM cards can store up to 250 name/number pairs and up to 50 SMS text messages.
The SIM card cannot store multiple numbers per contact or other more complex information. This means that if you copy your contact s info from the phone memory to the SIM memory, contacts get broken up into as many entries as there are numbers for each individual contact and discards the other information.
All GSM phones and most iDEN phones require a SIM card to operate.
There are certain types of phones (CDMA, TDMA, AMPS) that do not use a SIM. Instead, the required data is programmed directly into the phone.
The SIM cards come in four standard sizes:
  • Full-size (85.6mm × 53.98mm × 0.76 mm)
  • Mini-SIM (25mm x 15mm x 0.76mm)
  • Micro-SIM (15mm x 12mm x 0.76mm)
  • Nano-SIM (12.3mm × 8.8mm × 0.67mm)
The first to appear was the full-size or 1FF (1st Form Factor), the size of a credit card (85.60 mm × 53.98 mm × 0.76 mm). It was followed by a mini-SIM or 2FF (2nd Form Factor), which has the same thickness but is 25 mm long by 15 mm wide, with one of its corners cut to prevent misinsertion. Next came micro-SIM or 3FF (3rd Form Factor), with dimensions of 15 mm × 12 mm.
In 2012 the nano-SIM or 4FF (4th Form Factor) was introduced, which measures 12.3 × 8.8 × 0.67 mm. Nano-SIM cards can use adapters to gain compatibility with devices with Micro-SIM a nd Mini-SIM slots. A Micro-SIM card can also be fitted in Mini-SIM slot with an adapter.
There are two numeric passwords associated with a SIM card. One is the Personal Identification Number (PIN) that the user must input each time they start the device (this can be turned off via the phone settings).
When entering the PIN number the user has only three input attempts. If all three are incorrect, the card gets locked and a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) must be entered in order for the card to work again. Only ten attempts to enter the PUK are permitted before the card is permanently locked and made unusable.
